Louisiana School for the Agricultural Sciences

The Louisiana School for Agricultural Sciences was built in 2002 as a regional
charter school. LaSAS was recognized as the first rural agriscience high
school in the U.S. It was designed to use the agriculture theme and related
activities as the methodology for instruction. The academy based design
offers major areas of study such as animal science, plant science,
aquaculture, culinary arts, agriculture engineering and biotechnology
through which the core subjects are taught. Working with a core group of
supporters, Linda led the endeavor to create, design and secure funding for
the school. She supervised all aspects of the project: research, design and
construction, curriculum development, infrastructure, hiring staff, managing
finances and operations, capital outlay applications and interfacing with the
public and state and local governments. 53,000sf facility. 15 million dollar
project.
